I chose Walt Disney because he was a very interesting man.  I knew that he was a showman, an animator, producer, and a lot of other things. Also because he is my role model. All of the movies and T.V. shows he made, to the interviews to speeches. Another thing is that he has not 1, but 2 theme parks devoted to him.  I would have to say that he is the most memerable person I heard about.  For more things about Walt Disney, visit www.justdisney.com for more information.

There are tons of cartoonists in the world that are somewhat famous. Also there are people that make movies for a life time. But there is one man that could obtain both of these occupations. This person may go down in history as one of the best cartoonists/ movie maker. His name was Walt Disney.

Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Chicago, Illinois. Elias Disney was married to Flora Disney. The Disney family owned a huge farm in Illinois. His dad was a carpenter on the world fair building. Walt’s mom and dad designed and built by the Disney family. Then they sold their house and moved to Marceline when he was four. Walt had three bothers and one sister. Their names were Raymond, Roy, Ruth, and Herbert. Mrs. Disney wanted Ruth and Walt to go to school at the same school, and at the same time. His mom taught Walt to read. Walt loved to write and play skits that he wrote. Walt and his friends also liked going in Amateur theatre contests. Walt first job was the newspaper boy. They moved to Missouri again so that Mr. Disney, Walt, and his brothers could help do the paper. Walt had to deliver more than 630 newspapers a day. When Walt was 16, he went to Chicago to study art. Walt lied about his age, snuck into the army, and joined an ambulance. During World War I, he disguised an ambulance as a cartoon mobile. He thought that animation was cheesy the way other people do it. When Walt was 18, he made a cartoon inspired by a little girl. In 1919, Walt made at least 10 educational films for the U.S Government.

Walt’s job spanned for 43 years. Walt’s first job was to draw ads. In 1923, Walt moved to Los Angelus. Walt’s business partner was his brother Roy. Walt and his brother Roy went to Hollywood to shoot real movies. Then on July 13, 1925, Walt married Lillian Bounds. Steamboat Willie was the first successful TV show made by Walt. He made it in 1927. Walt did the sound of Mickey. Also, Steamboat Willie was the first TV show ever to have sound. Mickey Mouse was so popular, that people started putting Mickey in commercials. Walt Disney’s staff was more than 1000 artists, animators, story men, and technicians. Walt’s first successful movie was Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. That was made in 1937. Walt’s staff was mad at him because they did all the work, and Walt got all the credit. So his staff went on strike. About a week later, everybody came back. Then Walt had two daughters. One named Sharon, and the other named Diane. In 1940, Walt’s Burbank studio was completed. One of his hobbies is collecting miniatures. Walt made 57 Alice Comedies. Disneyland opened up in July 17, 1995. Walt wanted to build a future city called E.P.C.O.T. Experimental, Prototype, Community, Of, Tomorrow. In 1966, he shared this project with the world. The same year he died. Even though that his death was only one day, the things that he did will last a lifetime. On 1971, Disney World opened up on October 1. Epcot was made in October 1, 1982.

Walt had a lot of TV show and movies. In 1955, Walt had got presented with 7 little Oscars for Snow White and the seven Dwarfs, each representing 1 of the dwarfs. Also, Walt won over 32 academy Awards than anybody has ever received. In 1999, Disney studio won 76 Academy awards.
